design

Poles are designed according to AASHTO standard “ Standard Specifications for Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaries and Traffic Signals “ and its latest revisions.

Design wind speed is 160 Km/hr or as per the customer request multiplied by gust factor of 1.3 (Gust speed is 208 Km/ hr or as specified in the project specifications)

Design of poles is performed utilizing Computer software to analyse the pole shaft, base plate and anchor bolts.

 

material

Material used to fabricate the pole components will be in accordance of international standards and as per the project specifications.

finishing

Shaft, Base plate, Arm Bracket and other accessories are hot dip galvanised according to BS EN 1461 and its recent revisions, the minimum average coating thickness is according to BS EN 1461, or as per the customer requirements, but not more than 120 microns in any case.

No welding, cutting or drilling is done after galvanising.

The anchor bolts including nuts and washers are hot dip galvanised according to ASTM A 153.

The street lighting Poles of heights from 4m up to 20m covering almost all of the outdoor street lighting requirements, are usually made out of tapered steel shafts with octagonal or conical shape, with dimensions complying with the design structural analysis, international standards requirements, and as per customer requirements.

Only poles with heights up to 14 meters are made from one shaft segment. Poles up to 20m in height are made from two segments with minimum overlap length of 1.5 times the diameter of bottom of the upper segment.

Shafts are made from steel sheet folded to the required shape and welded longitudinally by automatic arc welding machine.

Base plate is square in shape with slotted holes suitable for anchor bolts. Dimensions of the base plate given in our drawings are complying with design analysis.

Base plate is welded to the bottom of the shaft by double fillet weld, according to International standards. Base plate will be open in the centre to allow cables in.

The brackets to carry the light fittings are in shape and dimensions complying with the customer requirements and the specifications of the light fittings. Shaft top is equipped with 8 nuts welded to the shaft and 8 No. head-less screws to grip the arm bracket to the shaft, as shown on our drawings.

Anchor bolts to fix the base plate to the concrete foundation are supplied with the required nuts and washers and having the size and dimension as per the structural analysis.

Door opening size and location is as per the customer requirements and its complying with the dimensions of the cut-out. Door opening is reinforced to maintain shaft strength; in addition, a rubber gasket is fixed around the door frame for weatherproofing.

Door cover is fixed to pole shaft by using a stainless steel Chain or Hinges.

An Earthing lug is welded inside the shaft at the door opening level and equipped with the required bolts, nuts and washers for earthing.

Straightness, tolerances and plumbness of the pole are maintained within permissible limits according to international standards.
